A highlight reel for an event is very important. We think without a video - the event didn't happen. Running an event is a big cost and a big risk, so not documenting it is like forgetting the effort and investment made into it in the first place.
Robotproof approached us to create a sizzle reel for the Beauty Works Live event. They wanted it to be snappy and short yet giving an idea of the event without any Vox PopsShort, unscripted interviews with guests or passers-by, cut together as reaction soundbites.. They required a horizontal and a vertical version so the videos work equally well on desktop and mobile devices.
On the day, we shot with both formats in mind, using a mixture of interesting techniques to give the video a unique creative watermark. Timelapses, 360 camera clips and match cuttingCutting between two shots that share a shape, a movement or a subject, so the join feels deliberate rather than abrupt. sequences helped stitch the reel together, accompanied by subtle sound effects to pump it with life.
It resulted in a reel that is really fast paced and fun to watch - meeting exactly their request. The team loved it!

- Delicate Re-frameThe 9:16 vertical cuts off around 68% of a horizontal version, so it's key to make sure every clip is composed perfectly. We stop and judge fresh framing on every moment, ensuring that all key parts of the image survive in the vertical version.
- Signed off onceWe construct one edit first. Once it's approved we make the others, keeping the back and forth to a minimum and the project rolling.
- Shareable FilesVideo files can be massive, this project specifically amounting to around 550GB. We make sure you'd never know by providing far smaller delivery files which are phone friendly, and easily shareable without massive upload and download times.
